Adventure Spec's Big Brexit Move
Adventure Spec Co-Founder Chris Colling explains how Adventure Spec is changing for Brexit

Adventure Spec has changed a lot over the last year as you may have noticed. We finished our Klim distribution role, developed a completely new I.T. system and set up our US office and company.

The final stage of our transformation is due to take place this coming January when we open a new distribution centre in the EU.

Adventure Spec products are pretty much all made in the EU and since the changes described above, most of our business is now outside of the UK. Even without the big push towards this change that is Brexit, our future lies as an international company selling its wares around the globe.

We will still have a warehouse in the UK, servicing our UK customers, but the majority of our business will pass through our EU warehouse, even on its way to the UK.

What does this mean for you? Well there are some important dates that you should be aware of:

ADVENTURE SPEC WILL BE CLOSED FROM 22nd DECEMBER 2020 UNTIL 1st FEBRUARY 2021.

OUR LAST SHIPPING DAY IS THE 22nd DECEMBER 2020.

WE WILL NOT BE TAKING ORDERS DURING JANUARY 2021.

What will you notice when we re-open in February?

You may see some price changes.

UK:

Once we reopen on 1st February 2021 if you are in the UK, not a lot will change.

EU and Europe:

If you are in Europe the main thing you will probably see is slightly reduced shipping costs.

(What you won’t see, but will have been avoided by us making this change, is the potential for customs charges and import duties as well as far less convenient return procedures).

US, Canada and South America:

If you are in the US you won’t see many changes.

Rest of the World:

Business as usual.

As I am sure you will appreciate a fundamental change like this is a major undertaking, so we have made the tough decision to completely close down customer facing operations for January.

We won’t be able to ship anything during that time.

The website will not accept any orders.

We will be working overtime getting our software and procedures tested and working as smoothly as possible.

The current situation with UK ports is poor and over the next few weeks will almost certainly get worse, so rather than try to fight against the inevitable problems, we’re going to get to work on getting our Spring 2021 line in place and ready to ship out as soon after the reopening as possible.

Also, as the Brexit situation is still unclear we are not in a position to set our pricing policy just yet.

Fundamentally though if you are thinking of making a purchase, prices are highly unlikely to come down!

So - if you need any Adventure Spec products that are currently available, our advice is to order them immediately and we will get them out before Christmas - at the current prices

If you already have a backorder or exchange in place we will be in touch and are putting plans in place to deal with those separately. We will be in touch soon.

2020 has been a uniquely challenging year for pretty much the entire globe. We are excited about the coming year and really look forward to sharing our new projects with you.

See you in 2021!

Chris and Dave
