Hi!
According to the numbers in front of me, if you are a bloke there's a high chance you will switch off when you read the next bit of this email.
But for those that make it to the end, well I hope it means as much to you as it does to us.
You may even want to forward it to someone you know who's been waiting for this news.
Here goes...
“Hey Adventure Spec, do you make gear for women?”
We’ve been put on the spot with this question quite a few times over the last couple of years.
It’s the one that I can guarantee to come up at a festival Q & A session.
And it’s the one that we’ve spent many a video call team meeting discussing behind the scenes.
“It’s not just men who ride adventure bikes. I think there’s a market for women’s gear. They like what we are about.”
“But are there enough women riders to warrant the minimum order quantities that we need to order in order to get our gear made at the right price?”
Believe me, the desire has been there, but it's been a struggle to get the sums to add up.
As an example, today the stats on our Facebook page tell us we are followed by 95.3% men and 4.7% women.
Conclusive proof?
Hmmm, there's two ways of looking at this.
On the one hand, it's reflective of the riding demographic, there's just a LOT more male adventure riders out there.
But on the other hand, maybe the reasons men choose to use an adventure motorcycle to experience the great outdoors is not so different to women?
Maybe the women adventure riders are there, but choose not to be part of our community because we don't make gear for them.
Not so clear cut is it?
And then Jim our Product Manager came up with a radical plan.
“Has anyone actually checked to see how the gear we do make fits women?”
Damn he's good.
Today we are launching our new women’s fit page.
It turns out that our clothing does fit a wide range of female body shapes, from size 10 to 18.
Just like it fits a wide range of male body shapes, bums, tums and chests included.
Our Supershirt and Linesman fabrics in particular offer enough stretch for a comfortable and safe fit on a surprisingly wide size scale, both male and female.
And all our pants come in a short, regular and tall leg length.
At the end of the day, we're all a bunch of slightly odd shaped humans.
Our job is to try and make lightweight adventure gear that fits as many of us as possible.

P.S. If you know someone who would be interested in our women's fit project, send them this page and make their day. Thanks!
